Meet Andy!

He grew up in a low-income neighborhood in Los Angeles, where the odds were stacked against him. Andy recalls, “I knew that if I was going to get through college, especially with parents who did not speak English and did not understand the process, I would need a village to help me through.”

Lucky for him, Fulfillment Fund was his village. We worked with him in high school and helped him apply for and secure a financial aid package that got him through Georgetown University. But our relationship didn’t end there. In college, Andy lost his mother and faced tragedy and responsibilities that most young people his age don’t have to encounter. We supported him through this difficult time by providing him with emergency funding that allowed him to overcome obstacles to focus on his degree until graduation.

Now he works in an LA high-rise, which he used to only dream about as a kid, and remains involved with Fulfillment Fund to pay it forward to students just like him. When asked why he wants to give back, he says, “there’s still going to be kids like me with so much potential but feeling trapped in the system.”
