Folks,
I recently took a run down the National Mall and stopped at the WWII memorial. I then remembered that 78 years ago this week, we were fighting the Battle of the Bulge.
Completely surrounded by German tanks, American paratroopers from every corner of the country came together to fight and survive. For six weeks, American soldiers were tested with freezing rain, thick fog, and record-breaking low temperatures.
But we showed our resolve. In the end, freedom beat tyranny.
That’s what we do. Americans come together at our moment of greatest peril and find a way through the darkness. We don’t give in — even in the face of adversity.
It will be tough, but we will do the same now, together.
American democracy and our fundamental rights are not inevitable. It exists because Americans throughout history have stood up and fought for it. 2023 must be the year we renew our commitment to democracy.
I’m all in. Are you?
