Dear John,
In recent weeks, we have asked what matters to you, while sharing some examples of what is important to us in the work we do. The responses we have received and the examples we have shared help us clearly understand our shared priorities and appreciation for the impact we make on your behalf.
At the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV), our goal is to turn what matters to you into priorities for our North Carolina Leaders. And on that front, we have accomplished so much.
This year, we made real progress on clean air, clean water, and environmental justice through Governor Cooper's executive orders and legislation enacted and signed. Additionally, we helped pass the largest climate bill in history, the Inflation Reduction Act, while preventing Sen. Joe Manchin's dirty deal from passing multiple times.
We supported incredible advances on clean energy in North Carolina, which will provide good jobs and help the climate for years to come.
We stood up for your right to vote and have your vote count, which is the key to our democracy and our environment. This effort took us to the Supreme Court of the United States, along with wins in the NC Supreme Court.
As you make your year end giving decisions about what matters to you, please remember NCLCV. >>[link removed]

Dear John,
Last week, following oral arguments in the Moore v. Harper lawsuit, I stood on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court to say why we stand for you and the voters of North Carolina:
“We believe every voter has the right to cast a ballot for the environment in free and fair elections and have their voice heard. That’s why we filed our lawsuit in November 2021 challenging the legislature’s gerrymandered districts. Fortunately, checks and balances prevailed: The North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that the legislature had violated our state constitution and that the gerrymanders must be replaced. Moore v. Harper is about reaffirming a fundamental principle – that constitutional checks and balances apply to state legislatures and federal-election laws. Winning this case is vital to ensuring free and fair elections, which is ultimately how lawmakers are held accountable and how our organization stands up for clean air and water for the people of North Carolina.”
Please show your support for this vital work by donating today. >>[link removed]
Regardless of what issue matters most to you – gerrymandering, justice, clean water, air and energy, a livable climate – none of them will move forward if legislators aren't accountable to voters like you. With your support we can address the issues that matter most to you. We can’t do this without your help.
Thank you for standing with us!
Dan Crawford, Director of Governmental Relations
