Hi there,
Happy New Year!
There’s a lot going on in Washington right now. But, even in the midst of impeachment and tensions with Iran, I’m still working on issues that matter to West Virginians, like fighting the opioid crisis. That’s why this week I introduced the Family Support Services for Addiction Act, which helps provide necessary support services for struggling families.
Too often, those surrounding an addicted individual feel isolated, ashamed, and unsure of where to turn for reliable information and advice. This bipartisan legislation will hopefully provide family members with the support, resources, and information they need to assist both their loved one struggling with addiction and all within their family who are impacted by it.

The Situation in Iran
President Trump acted swiftly and decisively eliminating terrorist Qassem Soleimani. There is no question that Soleimani had the blood of hundreds of Americans on his hands and was actively plotting to kill more. I spoke in more detail about this with Hoppy Kercheval earlier this week on Metro News Talkline. Click the image below to hear more:

I also joined my colleague Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in introducing a resolution honoring the brave men and women of our military who carried out the mission of taking out Soleimani.
For months, Iran has been escalating tensions, from shooting down U.S. drones to most recently sponsoring the storming of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
President Trump does not want to go to war, but he has also made clear this aggression will not be tolerated. I talked in depth with Neil Cavuto on FOX News about this issue:

Impeachment Update
After a long delay, Speaker Pelosi announced she will finally be sending over the Articles of Impeachment next week. By sitting on these articles for weeks, the Speaker demonstrated a clear abuse of power and gross infringement on the Constitutional authority of the Senate to try impeachment.
One day before Speaker Pelosi’s announcement, I joined my colleague Senator Lindsey Graham in demanding the Speaker immediately transmit the two Articles of Impeachment against President Trump to the Senate.

Working to Help Yeager Airport
After learning the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was considering limiting the operating hours of Yeager Airport’s Air Traffic Control Tower, I intervened to ensure that would NOT happen. This is not only about jobs, but also keeping our airport safe. I’m pleased to say Yeager will maintain its regular operating hours.
On Friday, I toured Yeager’s Air Traffic Control Tower and said hello to my favorite Yeager employee, Hercules.
