Folks — Senate Republicans just handed American children a big lump of coal for the holidays.

For weeks, I’ve urged my colleagues to support the expanded Child Tax Credit to lift millions of kids out of poverty, but Republican leaders have refused to even come to the negotiating table. As a result, the new year will be needlessly harder for Colorado families.

When we finally expanded the Child Tax Credit in 2021, it did exactly what we said it would: cut childhood poverty nearly in half, reduced hunger by 25%, and helped millions of families afford essentials like groceries and rent.

But in this year’s government funding negotiations, Republicans didn't give a thought to the millions of children facing hunger, homelessness, and empty stockings this holiday season.

I believe we should invest in our families and children — not give more tax breaks to big corporations. We should build an economy that works for everyone — not just those already on top.

So team, I will continue fighting to make the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent, and I hope to have you with me.

Sign my petition TODAY to demand that Republicans in Washington support expanding the CTC and help put an end to child poverty in this country.
