Write Your U.S. Senator and U.S Congressman! Federal Bill Filed in Congress Set to Force Schools to Adopt Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Policies A bill (S. 5158, H. R. 9387) has been introduced at the federal level of government that would force educational institutions to adopt policies that redefine “sex” in Title IX to mean “sexual orientation,” and “gender identity.” “Gender identity” is simply defined in the bill as, “a person’s internal sense of gender, which could be female, male, or another gender.” If this bill were to pass, it would be the end for women’s sports and protection in private spaces. The bill is called by its authors the Student Access to Freedom and Education Rights (SAFER Act). After thousands of parents and citizens spoke out against the Biden Administration’s proposed rule changes to Title IX, it is important that Congress does not attempt to redefine “sex” in federal law! You may recall that Texas Values wrote all 1,200 school districts in the state of Texas to warn them not to adopt school policies that allegedly protected from discrimination and harassment based on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.” Such policies would punish students sincerely held religious beliefs on sexuality, punish students and teachers for using the wrong pronoun, and even force coaches to allow biological males to compete on female sports teams. While we are able to stop these efforts at the state level, we must work diligently to stop laws like this at the federal level. Please write Senator Ted Cruz and Senator John Cornyn to let them know that you do not want to see the SAFER Act move in the U.S. Senate. Also, please write your U.S. Congressman that you are against this bill that would have detrimental effects on schools in Texas and across the United States. The bill has been filed in both chambers of Congress, so please write now to stop this bad education policy. |
