Dear John,
The Ryan Martel Fellowship recognizes a brilliant leader and Capitol Hill champion who devoted his professional life to the pursuit of effective federal climate action.
In Ryan’s honor, a rising star joins Ceres for a year of impact and first-hand experience in climate policy and environmental justice advocacy as we work to build a sustainable global economy.
Ceres is thrilled to announce Clausell Stokes III as the winner of the inaugural Ryan Martel Fellowship.
Ceres sought someone who could faithfully represent Ryan’s work ethic, political acumen and leadership potential. Having looked far and wide, it became abundantly clear that the best person to step into this role was the person whom Ryan himself mentored. Ryan hired Clausell in 2019 and Clausell quickly rose to a key role advancing the federal policy work of Ceres. One of Clausell’s early projects supported LEAD on Climate, a large-scale business lawmaker education and advocacy day, bringing together hundreds of businesses and investors committed to robust federal climate action. It is more than fitting that managing LEAD on Climate 2023 will be Clausell’s top
priority.
Clausell steps into the Fellowship at turning point in history as we seek to implement the most important climate law ever passed in the U.S. He will work closely with Ceres’ policy experts and a range of cross-sector stakeholders including Ceres’ investor and corporate network members, congressional lawmakers and staff, nonprofit partners, and other climate and sustainability advocates. |
Ceres is grateful to the funders who honor Ryan's career and contributions by supporting this fellowship program and helping to keep Ryan's work moving forward. If you would like to support the fellowship, please visit this page or contact
