John, who voted for this?

That’s what we asked the former Prime Minister Liz Truss back in October. All three(!) of the PMs we’ve had in the last four months have failed to take the climate, nature and cost of living crisis seriously enough. And now, Rishi Sunak’s government has approved the first coal mine in 30 years.

Along with campaigner Ami McCarthy, I decided to do something a bit different at the Conservative Party conference this year. We held up a banner during Liz Truss’ speech to call out her party’s broken promises. Security snatched it away, but we came prepared - bringing a back-up banner to show no matter what, we won’t back down if the politicians meant to represent us fail to act in the public interest.

While the intervention Ami and I did at the Conservative Party conference was turned around at quite short notice, these sorts of peaceful protests to expose the government’s failings can often take weeks of planning. And we couldn’t do it without people like you behind us. Thanks to our dedicated press and digital teams, our message spread far and wide in newspapers, on social media and television screens across the UK - together, thanks to your support, we reached millions!

John, we have big plans up our sleeves for 2023, but we need your help to get them off the ground. Could you set up a monthly gift today and help to get the next Greenpeace action off the ground and into the headlines?

Just one month before our Conservative Party conference appearance, we were out in the North Sea placing boulders on the seabed – physically stopping bottom trawlers from tearing up precious ecosystems for industrial fishing.

Back in July, we revealed the shocking results of The Big Plastic Count, a UK-wide citizen science project uncovering the truth about plastic recycling. With thousands of you counting your household plastic waste, we proved only 12% of plastic waste is recycled in the UK.

And together we showed the government we won’t let them take away our right to protest, with a petition signed by thousands. Every action and investigation is fuelled by people like you.

John, 2022 hasbeen busy, but we can’t stop now. The UK’s natural environment isn’t safe given the current policies of this government. Could you chip in now and help us be ready for whatever bold action is needed next?

With your support, we can stand-up to environmental destruction whenever and wherever we’re needed next. Together, we can achieve real world change.

Thanks for being with us, John
