This week at CBPP, we focused on housing, food assistance, health, Social Security, and the economy.
* On housing, Peggy Bailey stated ([link removed]) that a rule from the Trump Administration would reverse communities’ progress toward meeting fair housing obligations.
* On food assistance, we updated ([link removed]) a report noting that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program helps 1.3 million low-income veterans.
* On health, Paul N. Van de Water noted ([link removed]) that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) remains likely to reduce federal budget deficits substantially in coming years, despite December’s repeal of three ACA taxes. Jessica Schubel highlighted ([link removed]) states reconsidering Medicaid work requirements. Aviva Aron-Dine explained ([link removed]) why states can’t protect themselves from the harmful effects of ACA repeal. We released ([link removed]) a piece showing how Medicaid agencies can address gaps in determining eligibility.
* On Social Security, Kathy Ruffing pointed out ([link removed]) that Social Security Disability Insurance is still shrinking. We also updated ([link removed]) a report stating that Social Security benefits are modest.
* On the economy, we updated ([link removed]) our chartbook tracking the post-Great Recession economy.
