Last Thursday, the San Francisco Planning Commission approved the final draft of the 1,700-page Housing Element of the General Plan. The Housing Element is San Francisco's plan for where and how San Francisco will build 82,069 homes by 2029, as required by state law.

SF YIMBY supports the final draft of the plan, which will put San Francisco's permitting and approval practices in compliance with state law. We will monitor and hold San Francisco to its promises in implementing the Housing Element's programs as soon as possible, particularly in lowering barriers. The city must cooperate fully with the state's review of San Francisco's approval process, expected to complete in April.
