Today, January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. This month, we're bringing you some basic facts – because the more you know, the better equipped you'll be to make your community a safer place for children.
You may have heard about human trafficking hotspots in the news, or that your region is “#1 for trafficking.” But the truth is
It's common to hear about cities that are "major hubs" for human trafficking. However, if you look at a map of trafficking referrals, layered with major highways and human population density, you’ll find they’re often closely aligned. In short, where there are more people, more children are likely being exploited.
The ironically good news is that reports of human trafficking could actually go up in places where there is additional research, increased law enforcement efforts, or even an awareness campaign about The National Human Trafficking Hotline.

So although increasing reports of people who have been trafficked may seem like things are getting worse, we believe this reflects the fact that our society and systems are seeing the problem where we didn’t see it before. That’s because of a movement of people that you’re a part of! As a society, we’re getting better, step-by-step, at responding to the needs of children and coming together to make this a safer world for them.

Trafficking is a serious problem but Love146 and so many others are coming together to end it.
The more you know, the better activist you can be and the better you can work in your own community to make children safer.
