The revelations contained in yesterday's bombshell report from the New York Times about Congressman-elect George Santos are nothing short of shocking.
I immediately called on Mr. Santos to resign. After all, it seems that nearly everything he told voters was a lie:
- He lied about graduating from Baruch College
- He lied about working for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs
- He lied about having an animal rescue charity
- He lied about where he lives
And perhaps most outrageous of all, he lied when he claimed that he had four employees who were killed in the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. He used the pain of those who lost loved ones at Pulse – our mutual horror at that shooting – for his own personal, political advantage.
I've been getting calls from local residents – Democrats and Republicans – who are outraged, and with good reason. He lied throughout two elections and he should be held accountable.
I'm speaking out and demanding action, and I hope you'll join me. Earlier today, I joined NY-03 residents at his fake “Queens address” and called for him to step aside.

This scandal is moving fast. I'll keep you updated on what we know, when we know it.
My bottom line? George Santos should resign. The folks of New York's 3rd District deserve a Member of Congress whom they can trust to tell the truth. Election regulators and law enforcement should determine whether any rules were broken or crimes committed by Santos and his campaign team. He has disqualified himself from serving in public office and he should resign immediately.
Stay tuned.
