Dear Friend,
Our Catholic Action Insight series
this month once again welcomes our patron, Raymond Cardinal Burke, in
a wide-ranging discussion on some critical issues facing our Church
today and what the committed Catholic’s response should be to
them.
Catholic Action Founder, Thomas
McKenna, speaks with His Eminence about certain current issues of
social and political importance as well as matters of eternal
importance for the Church that affect the mission of saving
souls.
Take a privileged moment to this
listen to their discussions that will enliven your faith and
strengthen your resolve to “fight the good fight” in these troubling
times. Among other pearls of wisdom in this video, His Eminence offers
these sober insights about various topics:
-
The State of California’s recent radical anti-life
constitutional amendment which enshrined abortion as a fundamental
right: “This is a complete
repudiation of the very concept of law.” “Truly apocalyptic.”
-
The loss of belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the
Eucharist among Catholics: “We can’t presume anything
anymore about the Eucharist” and we must restore basic catechesis and
Eucharistic discipline of this most fundamental matter of the Church’s
life.
-
Restoring the sense of the sacred: “The usus antiquior of
the Mass brought with it an inherent sense of the sacred.”
-
Concerning the claim that denying communion to scandalous
Catholics is “weaponizing the Eucharist”: “Canon 915 has nothing to do with this. ‘To
weaponize’ something is to use it for harm, but the Eucharist never
harms anyone! The real harm is receiving the Eucharist
unworthily.”
And there is much more in this half
hour interview that will inspire you and help you to overcome any
sense of discouragement that the devil throws at faithful
Christians.
Cardinal Burke finishes the
interview with the positive and encouraging spirit that filled the
hearts of the saints even in the worst times of the Church: “We must
not give way to discouragement!” He notes that despite the challenges,
there are also many hopeful signs in the Church: young vocations,
strong religious communities, faithful marriages with growing
families, etc. Above all, we must remain hopeful and encouraged to
continue “fighting the good fight of faith”
Please take a few moments in your
busy day and watch this incredibly moving interview, and feel free to
forward it to others – to spread the Hope!
