This is the emphatic response that Josh, a 2016 ADF Blackstone Fellow, received from other students when he encouraged his school to stop funding abortion in student health plans.

Here’s the story:

During Josh’s first year at Harvard Law School, there was a “free speech wall” in the student lounge. Students were encouraged to leave messages about what Harvard should start doing, continue doing, or stop doing.

Josh is a longtime advocate for the right to life of the unborn. So he wrote a message declaring that Harvard should stop funding abortions in its student health plans.

“I later noticed that someone had taken down my sticky note,” Josh explains. So, he wrote it again. And again.

It was continually removed, but Josh persisted.

Then, one day he went back to the lounge and found his message. Though still on the wall, it was now surrounded by notes mocking his statement.

Josh’s experience with the free speech wall often came to mind when he attended the Blackstone Legal Fellowship later that year.

Blackstone brings together exceptional Christian law students and prepares them for careers marked by integrity and excellence.
