Friend – Last year’s General Assembly Session focused on protecting Virginians.
Because the Virginia Senate held on to its one-seat majority (my seat, the seat that we won in 2019 with your help), the Democrats’ Senate brick wall -
Defeated Youngkin’s disastrous appointment of Trump’s EPA Director Andrew Wheeler as our Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources
- Defeated the racist dog whistles of “divisive concepts” and “critical race theory” that targeted the teaching of America’s full history
-
Defeated the desire to defund public education and send billions of dollars in to the hands of private school corporate operators
- Defeated attempts to stigmatize and marginalize LGBTQ+ individuals in the Commonwealth
- Defeated efforts to roll back Virginia’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
-
Defeated attacks on access to abortion care
Now, we have a new Session in front of us, and we will see more of the same. I am committed to fighting the Governor and his Republican allies in the House and Senate on these and other bills that hurt Virginia, its families, children, the environment, and our economy.
But I’m not just playing defense. I’m not just focused on responding to the culture wars of the Youngkin administration. I’m working on real issues that matter to real Virginians:
- Increasing access to community colleges
-
Building resources and pipelines for essential workforce needs
- Bringing badly-needed resources to our public schools
- Strengthening our access to childcare and quality early education
We have so much to do, and we need public servants who are committed to doing the hard work of responding to Virginia’s critical needs. Culture wars and divisive rhetoric is deployed by those who have no actual policy solutions or proposals. Help me focus on the issues that really matter. Your contributions to my 2023 Campaign for Reelection truly make a difference.
