Jamie Raskin and the Jan 6 committee voted yesterday to refer Trump and other coup leaders to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.

The crimes include insurrection, obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress, and conspiracy to defraud the United States -- charges punishable by as much as 10 years in prison.

Ultimately, only Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice can formally indict, prosecute and hold accountable those who broke the law. Failure to do so will allow future attacks to succeed -- and the threat to our democracy will only grow.
