John—
In a shameful act, the state of Texas has just pulled out of the U.S. refugee resettlement program.
The decision to stop resettling refugees is not good for Texas and it’s not good for refugee families who want nothing more than a safe and peaceful life. Now, more refugees will be separated from their mothers and fathers and from their children.
We know you care about these families, John. Please help us support refugees impacted by this decision in the U.S. and refugees in crisis areas around the world. Donate now »
Texas's retreat — and the administration's executive order that made this decision possible — ignores the important contributions refugees make to our communities. It is an effort to politicize and undermine a successful, long-standing bipartisan program.
It's also out of touch with the state's tradition of welcome and with 42 governors who approved resettlement, including 19 Republicans.
The IRC has resettled refugee families in Texas for decades and has consistently seen communities overwhelmingly embrace refugees in their schools, jobs and places of worship. Across the U.S., we have seen communities embrace refugees and people like you stand up and fight for welcome.
Please continue this fight today by making a gift to support our efforts to reunite refugee families, provide them with safe homes and help them rebuild their lives with jobs and education. Your gift will also support our work worldwide.
Refugees in Texas, across the U.S. and around the world need you, John. Donate now »
Thank you so much for your compassion and support.
Sincerely,
The IRC Team |
