I hope you had a great weekend, friend.

I had the chance to review some of your responses to our recent survey, and I want to thank you for your input and thoughtful responses on the issue that matter to you. It’s my hope to keep an open dialogue with our supporters, so expect occasional surveys like this one throughout my first term in Congress.

One set of responses that stood out was from my question asking why you decided to support our campaign with a contribution.

There were a few answers I wanted to respond to directly:

  • Lois from Sterling, IL, said: “It was absolutely essential that Democrats stay in power. And I always liked your weather reporting.” Even though Republicans have the Majority in the House, Democrats did better than anyone expected thanks to voters like Lois.

  • Stephanie from Apple River, IL, supported me because she appreciated my “efforts and education on climate change.” I’ve been working on this critical issue for well over a decade, and I’m thankful that people like Stephanie have taken notice.

  • Glynn from Peoria, IL, voted for me because she “believes in a woman’s right to choose.” Glynn, please know that I’m with you and will fight tirelessly to protect choice in Congress.

These supporters – and thousands like them across IL-17 – are why this district stayed blue in 2022. And when Congress comes back into session next month, I will fight to address the issues my constituents care about -- protecting our democracy, communicating about and combating climate change, and protecting reproductive freedom.

Folks, I wouldn’t be doing everything in my power to address these issues if I didn’t start building resources now for our re-election campaign. So today, I’m asking you to jump on board and be an early supporter of our efforts to take back the House in 2024. Will you chip in any amount you can today? I’m filled with gratitude for the supporters who took the time to respond and share kind words and thoughtful comments. I look forward to fighting for you and this great district in Congress.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

Eric
