As this year and this Congress come to a close, I am thinking of how grateful I am for the incredible work of our team and looking ahead to new challenges.
In so many ways, Democrats defied expectations on election night. And you can feel it among the House Democratic caucus. Even though we fell short of retaining the majority in the House — by only a handful of very close races – we showed the incredible strength of our Democratic coalition. With a majority in the Senate and President Biden in the White House, I am optimistic about the work that can be done in the years ahead.
But I am also aware of the challenges that are ahead for the House, where Democrats will no longer control the legislation that comes to the House floor or the committee process. While I remain hopeful, I know we will have to fight even harder to protect our freedoms, our rights, and our democracy itself.
Today, I want to hear from you about what you think. What are your hopes? What are your biggest concerns? I want to hear about the issues on your mind right now and your thoughts on the House Republican agenda. Please take a minute to complete our survey here.
There is no doubt the next Congress will present challenges. But after working with this team for more than five years, I know we are ready for the work ahead. And, like you, I am ready to do it.
Together, we can do anything,
