Pelosi’s Revenge Outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is seeking to extract one last act of revenge against Donald Trump. Her kangaroo court, otherwise known as the January 6th Committee, voted today to recommend that the Biden Justice Department prosecute former President Donald Trump on four criminal charges. This is totally unnecessary -- Attorney General Merrick Garland has already appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump. The committee is also recommending that four House Republicans – Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Scott Perry and Andy Biggs – be investigated by the House Ethics Committee for alleged ethics violations. So, this is Pelosi’s parting gift to the incoming speaker of the House (McCarthy) and the soon-to-be chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (Jordan) – to leave an ethics investigation hanging over their heads. Yet another despicable precedent established by petulant progressives. This is how things are done in Third World dictatorships, where the party in power relentlessly punishes its opposition by censoring them in the media and locking up opposition figures. Once again, we’re seeing the intolerant left using every possible lever of power at its disposal to smash any and all dissent. Let me remind you of this Washington Post headline: “The Campaign To Impeach President Trump Has Begun.” That headline and the accompanying story ran exactly 19 minutes after Trump’s term began on January 20, 2017. Of course, as we know now, Pelosi would go on to impeach Trump twice, once even after he had left office! In an era of heightened partisanship, the radical left continues throwing gasoline on the fire. Trump is out of power, but progressives are determined to put him in jail. By the way, remember that just last week I reported that former Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner cried as he praised Nancy Pelosi for “always putting America first.” Defending Normalcy Kudos to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem! More than a few eyebrows were raised last week after news broke that a “gender identity summit” was scheduled to take place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, next month. The Transformation Project, one of the organizations sponsoring the summit, promotes the radical transgender agenda to children and had received a contract from the South Dakota Department of Health. As soon as Gov. Kristi Noem’s office was notified about the contract, she immediately took steps to cancel it. Governor Noem’s office said, “South Dakota does not support this organization’s efforts, and state government should not be participating in them. We should not be dividing our youth with radical ideologies.” A spokesman for the governor vowed that all Department of Health contracts were being reviewed. But that’s not all. Joan Adams, South Dakota’s secretary of health, announced her retirement this morning. It’s not clear from reporting whether Adams’s resignation is connected to the canceled contract, but the timing certainly is curious. In a related story, we told you Friday that the Ohio Board of Education voted to condemn Joe Biden’s radical transgender agenda and to affirm normalcy by requiring students to play on sports teams and use the bathrooms that correspond to their biological sex. There’s no question that the overwhelming majority of Ohio residents support this commonsense policy. But the vote was a close 10-to-7. Now comes the hard part. I have no doubt that the 10 board members in the majority are being doxed and inundated with hate mail. They are likely being shunned by their progressive friends. If you are a resident of Ohio, please take a moment to contact your Board of Education members here. Tell them you support the resolution affirming normalcy and parental rights and that you are pleased the resolution passed. Pavone vs. Rome Father Frank Pavone is a fixture of the pro-life movement in America. At a time when so many faith leaders have been too timid on moral issues, Father Pavone is a fearless, unapologetic advocate for the sanctity of life. I have been proud to partner with Father Pavone and Priests for Life many times over the years as we worked to overturn Roe v. Wade or pass pro-life legislation. Those of us who have had the honor of working with Father Pavone have known for some time now that he has occasionally clashed with the Catholic hierarchy. Nevertheless, we were stunned by the news this weekend that he was removed from the priesthood under orders from the Vatican. The official news came not from Father Pavone’s immediate superior, but instead from media leaks out of the office of Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the papal nuncio to the United States – the pope’s ambassador to America. Archbishop Pierre’s letter accuses Father Pavone of “blasphemous communications on social media” and “persistent disobedience of his diocesan bishop.” Additional reporting makes it clear that Father Pavone’s conservative politics also played a role in his dismissal. Now contrast Father Pavone’s “firing” with the recent reinstatement of Father Michael Pfleger, who was restored to his pulpit last week after being cleared of a second accusation of sexual abuse. Pfleger is legendary for his left-wing politics. He publicly supported Barack Obama, and even invited notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan to preach in his church! Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, spoke for many in the pro-life movement when he boldly tweeted this defense of Father Pavone: “The blasphemy is that this holy priest is canceled while an evil president promotes the denial of truth & the murder of the unborn at every turn, Vatican officials promote immorality & denial of the deposit of faith & priests promote gender confusion devastating lives…evil.” The Friend I Know A poignant holiday tradition took place over the weekend at Arlington National Cemetery and at more than 3,000 locations all across the country. Thousands of volunteers came together to lay wreaths on the graves of our fallen heroes to honor those who fought for our freedoms. What began in 1992 as the act of one grateful man is now known as Wreaths Across America. The people participating are everyday Americans who make time for this act of remembrance during an extremely busy season. This year, someone famous was seen laying wreaths on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery. He’s done this for years without any attempt to seek attention for himself, just as he has put others first throughout his whole life. I’m referring to my good friend, Justice Clarence Thomas, who observes this annual remembrance every year. Those of us fortunate enough to call him a friend are not at all surprised. His participation only became known this year when a conservative journalist took a selfie with Thomas and posted it online. Clarence Thomas is a good and decent man who loves God, America and our Constitution. For all those reasons and more, he is hated by the progressive left. They have tried to destroy him and his wife, Ginny. The left did everything it could to keep him off the Supreme Court. But like those men in those graves who protected our country and our Constitution in uniform, Clarence Thomas protects the Constitution every time he puts on his judicial robes. How fitting that he would go to honor them this past weekend during Wreaths Across America. Biden Talks To Dead People Joe Biden told another whopper of a tale last week. This time it was about how his father asked Joe, after he was elected vice president in 2008, to help his uncle get the Purple Heart that he “won” in the Battle of the Bulge. First of all, Purple Hearts are not “won.” They are earned by being wounded in battle. Second, this conversation could not have taken place when Biden claims it did because his father died in 2002 and his uncle died in 1999. No wonder so many Americans are so concerned about Biden’s mental health or are convinced that he’s a serial liar.
