Friend, now that the dust has settled on the November election, I have some extremely exciting news to report:

Our climate champion candidates won in 9 of our 13 priority races — that’s wins for 70% of our Climate Slate! These were some of the toughest, hardest fought races in the state, where we often went head to head against multi-million dollar spending from Big Oil, and we still won 70%.

Overall, 40 of our 44 endorsed Assembly candidates won their races, plus 8 of 13 Senate candidates we endorsed won their races. Which gave us an overall 85% win rate!

These gains are SO IMPORTANT for California to continue its climate leadership for the rest of the world.

But we can’t get complacent.

Do you remember that we’re on the Path to 62? We are SO close to a true climate majority in the California Legislature. Your votes helped us get here. Now we must make sure our climate champions stay strong.

So friend: Will you pledge to be a climate champion constituent in 2023 and hold our legislators in Sacramento accountable to climate action?

State legislature races may not seem as important as big ticket seats like federal legislators and governor, but they can be just as important — if not more so — in the fight for climate justice.

California had an enormously successful year for climate in 2022 in large part because of the many climate leaders we have in our legislature who introduced, pushed forward, and passed meaningful bills and that $54 BILLION climate budget.

A strong climate legislature starts with strategically electing climate leaders, and this year we made incredible progress. Despite Big Oil spending big, we partnered with progressives to take corporations head on and environmental voters made their voices heard to defeat them in many key districts.

While the election is over, accountability season is year round.

California came back strong in 2022 after three years of climate negligence, but we cannot afford for 2022 to be a one-hit wonder for climate action in California.

As we welcome a more climate-focused State Senate and Assembly, we have to ensure that these electoral wins become even bigger and bolder legislative wins in 2023.

friend, sign our digital petition to let us know you’re ready to fight for more climate action in 2023 with our new Legislature >> [link removed]
