In his parable of the talents, Jesus makes clear that good stewardship demands more than simply safeguarding what one already has.
You may remember the story: Before embarking on a journey, a man entrusts his servants with five, two, and one talents. The first two servants double these sums, while the third buries his talent in the ground. Upon his return, the man commends the first two and gives them more, while rebuking the third and taking his one talent back.
Earlier this month, two generous Editor’s Circle members went above and beyond their normal giving to pledge $30,000 toward a matching gift challenge as part of our
2022 Year-End Campaign. In so doing, they have offered us an opportunity to turn five talents into ten.
From now through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, these two donors will match every donation dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000.
