LEARN HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE OBESITY ADVOCATE

This fall, OAC debuted a brand-new, engaging way to dive deeper into obesity advocacy: our Advocacy Town Hall Series! The series covered timely topics such as our priority issue areas, targeting decision-makers and more! After viewing each session, you'll be an empowered advocate equipped with the tools you need to tackle the issues people with obesity face daily.

TELEHEALTH’S OPPORTUNITY TO DESTIGMATIZE OBESITY

Research has found that stigma during in-person medical care leads those with obesity to seek care via telehealth. Over 30% of Ro’s patients said that they had been previously teased, treated unfairly, or discriminated against due to their weight when seeking in-person care. Ro, alongside some of the leading names in obesity care and research, analyzed patients’ reasons for seeking care on Ro’s platform. READ MORE to learn what the research uncovered.

 

OAC MEMBER AMBER HUETT-GARCIA, MPA, SHARES HER DIARY

Longtime OAC member and passionate obesity care advocate, Amber Huett-Garcia, MPA, shared her lived experience with obesity in a visual diary with the NCD Alliance’s Our Views, Our Voices initiative. Amber shared her diary because she believes hearing the lived experiences of people with obesity will reduce weight bias and drive change for affordable treatment, care and support.
