Dear John,

My name is Yaseen. I’m a ninth grader at Sunset High School and an OLCV Youth Intern. Like many others in my generation, I worry about how climate change will affect my future.

We’ve all witnessed it first hand over the last couple of years. Wildfires, extreme heat, air that’s too dirty to breathe. A record breaking heat wave that killed over 100 Oregonians. These aren’t just headlines. This is our life. This is my future.

Yet despite the ever-increasing impacts of climate change, too many of our elected officials are still not willing to step up and act.

That’s why I’m writing you today. Will you make a year-end donation to OLCV today to support our work electing leaders who will fight for my future? Whatever amount you can give will make a difference.

This year, I was proud to work with OLCV to elect Tina Kotek as our next governor. I even appeared in a digital ad supporting her campaign! (Click here to watch it.) I’m not old enough to vote yet, but if I was I would have voted for Tina because she was the only candidate who will be a champion for our climate and Oregon youth like me.

Like most teenagers, I’m really busy with school and many extracurriculars, but I make time to volunteer with OLCV because this work is critical for my future. If we are already experiencing record breaking heat waves, extended periods of triple-digit temperatures, and worsening wildfires, what will it be like in twenty, thirty, fifty years? The next few years are critical. We still have time to address climate change and change the future for my generation and those that come after us.

Will you donate to OLCV today to ensure that we have the resources to keep fighting for my generation’s future? We’re counting on you.

Sincerely,
Yaseen Arifin
OLCV Youth Intern
