A well-known face and candidate in the 4th Congressional District of Virginia, Leon Benjamin charges forward, defeating his republican opponents and securing a win on Saturday’s GOP Party Canvass in Colonial Heights. Benjamin, a pastor, veteran, and former democrat, believes in uniting all people regardless of their political party. With a vision of unity and prosperity for all, he hopes to earn the hearts and votes of Virginians in his district.
A special election will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, to fill the seat of late U.S. Representative Donald McEachin. Democrats are set to hold their primary to select a nominee early next week. Then the battle for who will represent Virginia’s 4th Congressional District begins.
After officially securing the Republican nomination, Leon thanked all of VA-4 for allowing him to represent them and he thanked God. He was grateful to his family, campaign team, and volunteers. He went on to say that the 4th came out strong and he was appreciative of all the prayers and donations. Leon also thanked his opponents Dale Sturdifen and Derrick Hollie for a well-fought campaign and said he looks forward to working with them to secure and seal the seat for the people.
Leon Benjamin is a husband and father who has faithfully served his country and community. He plans to continue his service as a representative and voice for all people of the 4th Congressional District in Virginia. Benjamin says, “Let’s do this. It’s time to help all people. I want to be your voice. It’s not my seat, it's your seat.”
