Temperatures are dropping below freezing in crisis zones from Ukraine to Afghanistan. Children and families have been forced from their homes — or left to endure the winter without access to heat.

Frigid temperatures and winter storms exacerbate the crises families are already facing and make it even harder to get help. In Afghanistan, hospitals are reporting a spike in children suffering from pneumonia as temperatures fall. In Ukraine, families caught in the fighting are seeing their homes destroyed or cut-off from heat amidst massive blackouts.

The IRC is urgently responding to crisis zones like these to help families stay safe, healthy and warm this winter.
