HBO's We're Here is back for Season Three!

HBO's We're Here follows renowned drag queens Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela as they continue their journey across small-town America, spreading love and connection through the art of drag. This season, the queens recruit a diverse group of local residents from Granbury, TX; St. George, UT; Brevard County, FL; Jackson, MS; and Sussex, NJ to share their stories, increase awareness, and promote acceptance in their communities by participating in one-night-only drag shows. In each town, the queens inspire their “drag daughters” to express their genuine selves in front of their families, friends and communities, at times facing increased opposition and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation laws.

At a time when drag shows and performers are finding themselves are a constant threat of attack, we are so proud to support this beautiful series that embraces beauty and takes its affirming message of love to places where so many PFLAG chapters and PFLAGers are facing similar challenges.

We're Here returned for a six-episode, third season on November 25th; episodes debut weekly on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

Education

Three Steps to Being a Better Self-Care Advocate

The holidays can be a very stressful time, and sometimes, as things quiet down, maintaining self-care is most important. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Learn: Read this article on the history of self-care and these 12 quotes from Audre Lorde so you can better understand and explain why taking care of our mental and physical health is an integral part of activism.
  2. Watch: Check out this iconic video from Angela Davis on radical self-care posted as a part of a video series by AfroPunk in 2018. Rewatch some episodes of Something To Talk About Live! including one from last year about self-care during political turmoil and one from May about helping young people who report feeling down.
  3. Share: Use social media to share with friends and family what you’ve been doing to take care of yourself lately. Post a list of self-care activities, like this one from GirlBoss, to get the conversation started with groups you are a part of online.

Something to Talk About Live!

What Do Small Town Tennessee, Chosen Family, And Body Positivity Have In Common?

Drag has always played an integral part in LGBTQ+ history and culture. As it has become more mainstream, drag performers are reaching new audiences revealing enormous support for the LGBTQ+ community as well as unveiling the bias and violence that too many continue to face.

Join us this Thursday, December 22 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live where we will be discussing ““I’m Whole Again”: Eureka O’Hara on Rehab, Body Positivity, and We’re Here", by Isabelle Kliger which appeared in them.

We are beyond excited and completely honored to welcome the one and only Eureka O’Hara of HBO’s We’re Here as our guest!
