John,
Republicans have been trying to restrict our voting rights for decades to try to hold onto power despite not having the support of the majority of Americans. And with young voters turning out in larger numbers than ever before, young people are now a particular target of their voter suppression.
Young voters' ballots are tossed out at disproportionate rates, they face unreasonable hurdles to registration, and they are forced to wait in lines for hours just to cast their ballots.
That’s why I support Rep. Nikema Williams’ and Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s Youth Voting Rights Act, which would expand voter registration and polling locations at colleges and universities, allow students to vote with their student IDs, allow national voter pre-registration, and more.
Add your name to support the Youth Voting Rights Act while Congress is still in session and Democrats still have control in the House.
Republican lawmakers have pushed for even more restrictions on our right to vote since the 2020 election, including closing polling stations and removing hundreds of thousands of people in voter purges.
I ran for office so our government could better reflect the will of the people. And we can’t let the GOP continue to undermine this. Together, we can end voter suppression and expand voting rights for all, as part of building a multi-racial democracy that works for all of us.
In solidarity,
Rashida
