John --
The House of Representatives took a long-overdue step yesterday in restoring Congress' Constitutional right and duty in matters of war.
The resolution passed by the House would require the approval of both chambers of Congress for any President to take actions that can serve as an official or unofficial announcement of war.
A few months ago, we were pleased to see the House repeal the AUMF and -- very similar to what was passed this week -- the passing of a resolution to the War Powers Act, only to then see both measures struck down by the Senate.
Given who’s leading the U.S. Senate, this is certainly no time for celebration. It’s time for us to be vigilant. We know McConnell’s desk is a graveyard of legislation passed by the House. We can no longer tolerate Representatives who put corporate and political pressure over the interests of the people!
We must continue to demand the Senate to act for the American people and uphold the Constitutional duties we elected them to protect. Our safety and our Democracy depend on it.
BNC is challenging three Trumpian Senate Republicans in 2020.
- Maine, Betsy Sweet must replace Susan Collins
- Iowa, Kimberly Graham must replace Joni Ernst, and
- West Virginia, Paula Jean Swearengin must replace Shelley Moore-Capito.
Primaries are approaching fast, and we NEED a Senate Squad to shift the majority there. The future of our country depends on it.
Can you contribute today to help reshape the Senate in 2020?
