The price of bad policy: $7,100—that’s how much the average American family lost in income this year thanks to inflation, according to new data released last Tuesday.  

• Under the Biden administration, consumer prices rose so much faster than wages that the average family lost $5,800 in real annual income.  
• Skyrocketing interest rates account for another $1,300 in lost annual income.  

Congress might make it worse: The lame-duck Congress is now deciding on the 2023 fiscal package. If it approves an omnibus appropriations bill, the policies fueling Bidenflation will be locked in until next fall.  

 

Also: The Congressional Budget Office released a report showing that 2023 is shaping up to be an unhappy new year economy-wise.
