MONDAY E'NEWS Annual Meeting Summary 2022 Held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at East Lansing 11,775 current members as of 12.01.22, a 1.8% decrease from 9.22.22. The decrease is a result of a decline in demand for CPL classes. The MCRGO Annual Financial Report is available to current members upon request. Susan McCray-King is elected President & Chair as well as Chair of the Operations Committee. Rich Martin is elected First Vice Chair & Chair of the Education Committee. Steve Dulan is elected Second Vice Chair. Dawn Martin is elected Secretary and Treasurer. Audree Danielson, Ryan VanMaldagen, and Richard Wickstrom are appointed Modern Rifle Master Instructors. Modern Rifle Program Lead Bob Savo is to certify them in early January 2023. Modern Rifle Instructor workshops will be held in East Michigan, West Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula by May 1, 2023. The May 20, 2023 picnic at Gaylord is approved by the Board under the name and direction of the Michigan Legislative Second Amendment Caucus. Education Committee is to solicit applications for a vacant Master Instructor position for West Michigan from among MCRGO's current CPL instructors. The Fall Firearms Festival for 2023 will take place at Jackson. MCRGO opposes House Bills 6544-6546 (Modern Rifle Ban). The MCRGO Executive Director is to have a quote prepared for the Board by the March 2023 quarterly meeting for the purchase of a smokeless range simulator. MCRGO appropriates $10,000 for the Wade vs. University of Michigan case. This is in addition to the $3,340 raised from recent member contributions for the case. MCRGO has vacancies on its Board for a South West seat caused by the resignation of Nate DeWeerd and a South Central seat caused by the resignation of Art Joslin. The Board may fill these seats by appointment at or before the next quarterly meeting. The small group round tables suggested keeping all features of the current MCRGO website as part of its design modernization in 2023. The new website will be created in a version friendly for viewing on mobile devices. Professor Peter Glendinning of MSU has offered artistic design assistance. MCRGO will more heavily promote the members-only MCRGO Coffee Table Group on Facebook. The organization's main social media focus for 2023 will remain on Facebook while efforts are made to grow its Instagram audience. There is little support to expand to other social media platforms at this time. Susan McCray-King Elected First Female MCRGO President Rep. Phil Green to Chair Legislative Second Amendment Caucus At MCRGO's Annual Meeting, Susan McCray-King was elected as the new MCRGO Chair & President. She is the first female President of MCRGO and any Michigan Second Amendment policy organization. Susan has served as MCRGO's Education Committee Chair for the past two years. She is one of MCRGO's most active instructors. She is a MCRGO Director At-Large. Congratulations to State Rep. Phil Green, who is also a MCRGO Director, on becoming the new Chair of the Michigan House Second Amendment Caucus for the upcoming 2023-2024 Legislative Session. MCRGO looks forward to assisting him with his new leadership position. Thank you to Senator-elect Michele Hoitenga for her leadership of the caucus over the past four years.
