This week’s Newsmaker Interview…
Senator Curtis King (R – Yakima) joined us for this week’s Newmaker Interview to discuss the Republican’s “Power Washington” package. Backers of the package claim its “all-of-the-above” approach to energy production will meet our state’s future energy needs better than the Democrats’ reckless and very expensive piecemeal proposals. Senator King also offered his thoughts on Governor Inslee and Democrat legislators demanding the ability remove local control over the placement of large solar and wind farms which consume precious farmland and destroy habitat for threatened species. This week’s top story…
Governor Jay Inslee released his 2023-2025 budget proposal – and demonstrated again his relentless commitment to rapidly increasing the size and cost of state government. His new budget proposal is a whopping 12% larger than the last record-breaking state budget, and more than double the size of the budget when he came into office in 2013. At $70.4 billion, Inslee’s budget proposal of course includes a plan to hire more government employees, which means more money to union bosses (and thus more kickbacks to Democrat political campaigns funded with your tax dollars). In case you missed it…
Democrat lawmakers are proposing new legislation to eliminate police officers from pulling over drivers for certain violations. Liberal Senator Joe Nguyen (D – West Seattle) is actually floating an idea of prohibiting police from pulling over drivers who break the law with expired tabs, broken tail or headlights, and other seemingly minor violations. Evidently, the Senator is unconcerned about putting other drivers (and their passengers) in danger due to drivers operating unsafe cars with broken lights or bald tires. Or just breakin g the law in general. Read more.
