Hello John,

Tonight, the Jewish people across New York State and around the world will begin to celebrate the 8-day holiday of Hanukkah. Hanukkah commemorates and celebrates religious freedom, an idea that was novel for many centuries until the birth of the United States of America, where it was such an important part of our founding that we enshrined it into our Constitution.

Let us take this opportunity to remind ourselves of the freedoms that we all cherish as fellow Americans.
