John:

After spending millions of dollars lobbying the GOP, conservative climate groups are trying to make their mark during the 118th Congress.

Organizations like ClearPath and Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions are trying to sell an “energy innovation agenda,” which in part is trying to sell the GOP on transitioning away from fossil fuels. We certainly would welcome a Republican Party that is finally ready to turn the page and move past climate denialism, but actions speak louder than words.

And don’t forget: Every GOP House member and Senator voted against the Inflation Reduction Act – the most significant climate law in our nation’s history.

While these organizations like to take credit for moving Republicans away from climate denial policies that were once a cornerstone of their agenda, color us skeptical until we start seeing Republicans put forward and vote for real solutions.

If these conservative groups want to meaningfully solve the climate crisis, they must prove that they are more than a prop for Republicans to appear as if they are on the right side of history while they continue to back fossil fuel special interests.

We’ll be watching closely.

SEEC has been the loudest voice in Congress, pushing our country in the right direction toward a sustainable energy future. We cannot risk losing ground with so much on the line.
