This has been one of our most difficult years ever, and to make it through 2023, we're counting on our readers to chip in to support our independent nonprofit journalism.
A tiny handful of corporations own more than 90
percent of the news media, and an even smaller number controls the search engines and social media platforms that determine what most people see and read online.
These corporations, which have so much influence over our lives and politics, are motivated by just one thing: profit.
So when the media talk about inflation, they don't mention that corporate profits just hit a 70-year high. When they talk about taxes, they ignore the massive corporations that don’t pay anything.
And when they talk about the climate emergency or the global extinction crisis . . . well, they rarely ever talk about those issues at all.
But Common Dreams is not here to make a profit. Our goal is to make the world a better place. And that’s why we’re so different.
This has been one of our most difficult years ever financially, but we continue to make an impact with our journalism
and coverage of the issues that mean so much to you. But to remain strong and increase that impact in 2023, we have but one revenue stream: readers and common dreamers like you.
