On Saturday the Democratic State Committee will hold elections for leadership positions, and I am proud to be running for a new term with the support of Governor Phil Murphy and Democratic leaders throughout the state. Alongside our excellent leadership team of Vice Chair Peg Schaffer, Secretary Janice Kovach and Treasurer Kelly Stewark Maer, I’m excited to continue leading our party forward into 2020 and beyond.

Governor Murphy this week spoke out about President Trump’s announcement [[link removed]] that he will hold a rally in New Jersey with Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who abandoned our party and sold out our principles to become a Trump Republican. The Governor said it best:
“With the impeachment process continuing to unfold in Washington and unrest in the Middle East, the last thing President Trump should be focused on is coming to New Jersey to campaign for Jeff Van Drew," said Murphy, a frequent Trump critic. “Doing so speaks to President Trump’s misplaced priorities and refusal to put what’s best for the country ahead of his own politics.”

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill has already become a leader in the House of Representatives in just her first term, and recently she was unanimously chosen by her House Science, Space, and Technology Committee colleagues to serve as chair of the Environment Subcommittee [[link removed]] . This places her in a position to advocate for her district and all of New Jersey on important environmental issues ranging from climate change to clean energy and more. I would like to congratulate Congressman Sherrill, and look forward to supporting her re-election later this year.

This week Governor Murphy signed a bill appropriating $9.5 million for family planning services that are impacted by the Trump Administration’s implementation of the Title X gag rule, which limits access to health care and family planning resources. Primary sponsors of the legislation include Assemblymembers Louis Greenwald, Joann Downey, Gordon Johnson, and Annette Quijano, Senate President Stephen Sweeney, and Senators Loretta Weinberg and Troy Singleton. This is a great example of our legislators and Governor Murphy working together to protect one of our most important values -- that a woman’s right to choose must be protected.

After leaving the campaign trail to attend a Congressional briefing [[link removed]] in DC on President Trump’s military actions in Iraq, Cory returned to Iowa for a series of events across the state. Cory 2020 also launched a new 30 second TV ad [[link removed]] in Iowa this week backed by another six-figure buy.
