Dear John,
As the end of the tax year approaches, it’s not too late to maximize your tax benefits for 2022. ELPC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), which means your donation is fully tax-deductible. Donate by Saturday, Dec. 31 to secure your 2022 tax savings.
Here are a few strategies for making the most of your giving:
- Donate online with a credit card or an electronic check. You can also send a check to our Headquarters:
- Environmental Law & Policy Center
35 E. Wacker Drive, Suite 1600
Chicago, IL 60601
- Donate from your IRA: If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. You can transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA without paying income taxes on the money. A win for you and the charities you support.
- Donate Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, or Other Securities: If you donate stock, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities, you may be eligible for a tax deduction for the gift’s full market value and avoid paying capital gain taxes. Please contact us for more information.
- Donate through a Donor-Advised Fund: Donate directly from your donor-advised fund and enjoy the tax benefits and flexibility of a donor-advised fund.
- Donate through a Charitable Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust: If you’re interested in a guaranteed income stream and tax savings, a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust could be good options. You may be eligible for a federal tax deduction in the year you make the gift.
Your financial and/or tax adviser can help you decide on the best options for you and your family.
Please contact the ELPC Development Team with any questions about donating to ELPC. We’re working through the holidays, and we’re here to help.
Thank you for supporting ELPC’s work to protect the Midwest's environment! We hope you have a healthy and peaceful holiday season!
