Welcome to the Sixth Day of the 15 Days of Ballotpedia!
Ballotpedia Insights
Seeking to expand your knowledge about politics and government? Ballotpedia Insights is a series with political and legal scholars, researchers, reporters, and subject matter experts. Each installment, we host different speakers and ask them tailored questions designed to gain in-depth insight into their work. Sessions this year have featured:
-
School Board Elections 2022, with Doug Kronaizl and Samuel Wonacott
-
An Update on the Supreme Court of the US, with Kate Carsella and Brittony Maag
-
Top 15 Elections to Watch, with Dave Beaudoin and David Luchs
This year, Ballotpedia also hosted a book club, open for the public to participate in, in which BP staffers discussed the book Timing and Turnout: How Off-Cycle Elections Favor Organized Groups. The book focused on the origins of today’s American election calendar, the electoral impacts of when elections are held at different times of the year, which organized groups favor “off-cycle” elections, and other election timing-related topics. The second-to-last week also featured an interview with the author herself, Sarah Anzia. The conversation and the book were thought-provoking dives into the relatively less-understood topic of election timing and its effects.
Ballotpedia Insights are a great opportunity to learn from some leading professionals involved in politics. Even better, they're free to attend thanks to the support of people like you!
Best,
Leslie Graves
