John, Kari Lake held an event at Mar-A-Lago claiming that her election had been stolen.

If this story sounds familiar, it’s because it is part of a cyclical and twisted new normal that involves Trump-brand election denialism.

As a matter of fact, as reported by the Hill, it’s a prominent trend with Arizona Republicans:
“Most unsuccessful Arizona statewide Republican nominees formally contested their opponents’ certified victories, pushing vast allegations to argue votes should be set aside or adjusted that would flip the outcomes.“

Lake’s main argument in her case is that Election Day voters, who mainly claim to be Republican, experienced enough issues to sway the votes in Maricopa county. However, much of the messaging from the GOP for the midterm elections was to avoid absentee ballots and mail-in voting.

Naturally, this follows the same path as that carved out by Trump in 2020. These MAGA candidates will claim election interference and fraudulent activity only when they lose, and only in certain races.

Kari Lake has also been the subject of whispers about the VP slot for the GOP in 2024 – and what better what to make a bid for the candidacy than to emulate the man she loves most – Donald Trump.

While the GOP and MAGA Republicans will continue to deflect and deny the attempted subversion of our electoral process, we stand firm in our rejection of this pattern.

There is nothing American about the MAGA movement, and those that choose Trump over the American people and American voters.
