John,
There are reports out of Washington, DC that Congress is nearing a deal on an end-of-year spending bill that rejects cuts in human needs programs―and possibly includes needed investments in housing, education, children’s mental health, low income heating assistance, affordable high-quality child care, and much more.
In the face of massive right-wing opposition, how did we stop cuts to programs that help working- and low-income families? Activism!
CHN has led a coalition of national allies in sending nearly 200,000 messages to members of Congress, just in the last few weeks, demanding investments in our families and communities.
Our champions in Congress recognize the role that you play in advancing our shared agenda for change. Just look at this statement from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) at CHN’s 40 anniversary event earlier this year:
“I want to thank every person, every hero who has contributed in some form to the Coalition on Human Needs. Over the past four decades, you have served as invaluable partners in the fight against poverty, systemic racism, food and housing insecurity, voter suppression, and so many other injustices that contribute to inequality.”
Representative Lee is a tireless fighter for those so-often left behind―and we’re proud to fight by her side for justice and equity for all. Chip in today to support CHN’s invaluable work as we fight together for a future that includes all of us, not just the wealthy few.

Your year-end contribution powers us not just through the current fight for increased funding for children, families, and working people, but also into the new year when a divided government will pose new challenges to our agenda for change.
Together, we’re fighting alongside our champions in Congress to ensure no one is left behind.
