Fellow Conservative,
This week has been one for the books as you, the grassroots, made your voices heard and Congress was forced to listen. Thank you to EVERYONE who called their Representative to oppose the EAGLE Act.
Because of your efforts, this bill will NOT become law. Now let’s dive deeper.
The EAGLE Act is Grounded
This bill would have removed the per-country caps on immigration visas — favoring countries with the largest visa backlogs at the expense of others. Currently, one of the most backlogged countries is China.
Additionally, it would lower the requirement to obtain a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) which would allow those with one to sponsor any number of family members into the country.
This would create an open invitation <[link removed]> for the Communist Chinese Party to plant party members within our borders. China is a prolific intellectual property thief and it is estimated their theft costs the American economy between $255-$600 billion <[link removed]> in pirated software, trade secrets and counterfeit goods annually.
With no provisions to vet immigrants for CCP connections in the bill, the EAGLE Act would open the floodgates to Chinese nationals and exacerbate this National Security threat.
But the grassroots wasted no time in pushing back. The groundswell of opposition was so strong that it caused Representatives to withdraw their support to the point where the EAGLE Act is now no longer passable in the present Congress.
This would not have happened without YOU, who called, emailed, and petitioned your Representatives to oppose this bill. This week, your voice made all the difference!
More Bidenflation
As the country heads towards Christmas, sadly many Americans are having to do with less as inflation has cost the average family $7,100 <[link removed]> in terms of real income. The average prices paid by American families has risen an average of 13.8% since Biden took office.
November’s CPI number (a key measure of inflation) was 7.1 percent. It’s a slight decrease from October, but it’s unlikely to revert back to normal levels anytime soon.
Runaway spending has been a key driver of inflation, and Congress is once again negotiating over a bloated trillion-dollar spending bill to fund the federal government.
Spending Update
Yesterday, Congress came to a spending agreement to continue to fund the government… but only for 1 week. Funding will now run out at midnight on December 23rd, just two days before Christmas.
This 1 week continuing resolution (CR) is designed to give lawmakers time to write a massive $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that would fund Democrat priorities well into 2023.
>>>Listen to this week’s podcast on the Omnibus<<< <[link removed]>
This omnibus is a bad deal for the American people. It would prolong the policies of the last two years that have already brought us so much distress.
The omnibus will likely be introduced as late as possible on Dec. 23rd, which means Members of Congress and their staff could have less than 24 hours to read a thousand-plus page bill. This is a broken process that is essentially taking government funding hostage to force through Biden’s agenda.
There is a simple solution—Congress should pass a CR into January. This would give the newly elected Congress the chance to set the spending priorities that the American people elected them to set.
>>Call your Representatives and Senators and tell them to pass a clean CR, and not a massive omnibus.<< <[link removed]>
