After 19 years of dedicated service to her constituents, caucus and country as speaker, Nancy Pelosi has decided to step down from her position leading the Democrats in the House of Representatives. 

As she passes the torch to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and the next generation of Dem leaders, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on her trailblazing legacy as not only the first woman to serve as speaker of the House (twice!), but also the first woman to lead a major political party in Congress.

But leaving it there would be doing her 35-year long career in the House a major disservice.

Since taking office in 1987, Pelosi has served under seven presidential administrations, helped pass major landmark legislation, impeached Trump TWICE and stood her ground in the face of deadly right-wing terrorism that threatened the soul of our democracy and the safety of herself and her colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

The mark she has left on our country will not be soon forgotten, especially given all she’s withstood in the last few years.

So we’re sending her a small token of our immense gratitude. But in order to make sure it doesn’t get lost in the mountain of mail she receives every day, we’re trying to get as many members of the MeidasMighty as we can to join us!
