Hello, Friends —
This week in Congress was marked by House Democrats and retiring Senate Republicans' blatant disregard for the budget process in Washington, D.C. As you may have heard, Congress passed a Continuing Resolution, or a "CR," which buys them one more week to pass their bloated Omnibus Budget. Why is this? Joe Biden and the Washington swamp failed to begin FY23's budget process on time (at the beginning of this calendar year) and, once again, have opted to jam several thousand pages of legislative text into next week's Omnibus Budget. Of course, this is so that no Member of Congress will be able to review it thoroughly.
Moreover, extending the budget deadline for only one week enables Democrats to draft signature spending legislation to be carried out through the next year, even after losing in November. I will not support any CR that expires before next year when the Republican House Majority will have a formal role in the process.
Next week, I'll be back in D.C. as the Democrats plan to force a vote on FY23's Omnibus spending package.
FIREBRAND: LIVE FROM DC
Episode 80 LIVE: Never Kevin (feat. Steve Cortes)
In Episode 80 of Firebrand, I provide some big updates on omnibus spending's impact on the economy, the Democrats' immigration bill they had to pull from the floor this week (and vote on after reorganizing), and reflect on the status of Kevin McCarthy's beseeching campaign to be House Speaker.
Episode 79 LIVE: Gender Ideology in D.O.D.
Watch as I react to evidence from the 'Twitter Files' that confirms how former Woke employees censored and shadow-banned conservatives, including my own account. Additionally, I provide a recap of the latest House Armed Services Committee hearing, where I acknowledge and expose the extent of radical gender ideology in the military. This specifically comes from a hearing centered around a Resolution of Inquiry that would require the Department of Defense to fess up about the Woke and radical gender ideology that has been pushed on our military.
AROUND THE DISTRICT
AMTC RIBBON-CUTTING AT EGLIN AFB
Yesterday, Eglin Air Force Base hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand-new Advanced Munitions Technology Complex (AMTC) on base. This $100 million state-of-the-art collaborative research space will lead to the development of new technologies that will put quicker, lighter, and more lethal armaments into the arsenals of our warfighters, with faster development than ever.
Since the AMTC’s groundbreaking in 2019, we have eagerly awaited the unleashing of this robust capability here in the district as it promises to enable teams of the brightest scientists and engineers to streamline research opportunities safely and efficiently. Moreover, this is essential as our Air Force and Department of Defense continue to outpace our Nation’s threats. Securing this investment in next-generation processes and munitions—empowered by the best minds and resources our country has to offer—will contribute greatly to both our collective National Defense and to the economic development in Northwest Florida for years to come.

Democrats Block GOP Attempt to Investigate Gender Ideology in the Military
"'The woke ideology that Secretary [Lloyd] Austin has advanced has harmed our military,' said Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.). Gaetz argued that such a resolution was needed “because we don’t get straight answers when we ask them directly.” Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) agreed with Gaetz’s assessment, stating that “Our troops should not be the vanguard for the left’s social agenda.” Rogers vowed that such an investigation would ultimately be carried out after the new GOP majority in the House of Representatives is formally sworn-in in January."

"At another point, Roth pressed for a permanent suspension of Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Trump ally, even though it 'doesn’t quite fit anywhere (duh).'"

Jon Meyer: F-35 engine swap is bad for business in Florida
"In 2019, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Reps. John Rutherford (R-FL), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Michael Waltz (R-FL) and Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL) sent a letter to the Air Force encouraging the decision to replace Jacksonville’s aging F-15 fighters with F-35s. All five handily won their re-elections last month — a testament to their track records of getting results for Florida."
