Hey there --
Elon Musk is threatening the free press – unilaterally and without recourse – by suspending the accounts of prominent journalists who have been reporting on his actions since taking over Twitter.
He’s burning Twitter to the ground. In the last week under Musk’s reign, Twitter has:
- Disbanded its Trust and Safety Council, a group of outside experts and advisors who counseled the company about online safety. [1]
- Begun working on a plan that would force users to share personal and location data if they want access to Twitter, in perpetuity. [2]
- Refused to pay rent for Twitter’s offices and is considering not paying promised severance to former employees. [3]
- And just last night, he started suspending reporters in apparent retribution for fact-based journalism. [4]
Elon Musk is showing just what an egomaniacal billionaire will do with unilateral power over a critical component of our media and information ecosystem. By blocking speech he dislikes or speech critical of him, he is setting a dangerous precedent – one that we must not allow other platforms to follow.
Friend, we are seeing in real-time how the digital landscape is changing. And as Elon encourages disinformation, hate, and extremism to perpetuate on his platform, we are building out our accounts on other platforms. If you’re on social media (no worries if not!), follow us on our other platforms to stay in touch:

We're not sure what the future of Twitter and these platforms will be with billionaires at the helm. But we are going to keep fighting for safe and secure digital platforms – and for accountability for Big Tech.

Accountable Tech
We see the irony of asking you to take action on the same platforms we’re fighting to hold accountable, but they are… well… dominant. We have to reach people where they are in order to level the playing field -- and we’re ready to bring the fight right to their own platforms.
Chip in to support us as we take on Big Tech and fight the good fight:
