New Dems Call for Urgent Action on Immigration Legislation Before End of the Year
NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) and New Dem Immigration Task Force Co-Chairs Salud Carbajal (CA-24) and Greg Stanton (AZ-09) released a statement on Thursday calling for urgent action to pass the Affordable and Secure Food Act before the end of the year. This legislation builds on last week's call to action to protect Dreamers by passing a pathway to citizenship by the end of the year.

Schneider, Lee Lead Bipartisan Push for an Extension of Expiring Telehealth Flexibilities in an End-of-Year Package
Reps. Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Susie Lee (NV-03) led a bipartisan group of 30 Members of Congress in a letter asking House leadership to extend critical telehealth flexibilities expiring on December 31st, 2022 and include H.R. 5541, the Primary and Virtual Care Affordability Act, and H.R. 5981, the Telehealth Expansion Act, in an end-of-year package. 

McBath Marks 10 Years Since Sandy Hook on the Floor of the U.S. House
Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to mark a decade since the horrific shooting that left 20 children and 6 adults dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Rep. McBath is a champion on gun violence prevention in Congress.


Larsen Recommended by Steering & Policy Committee to serve as the next Ranking Member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee
Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) was recommended by the Democratic Steering & Policy Committee to serve as the top Democrat on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee next Congress on a 44-12 vote. NDC leadership voted last week to endorse Rep. Larsen for the position. The entire House Democratic caucus will vote on the contest next week. 

Wasserman Schultz Introduces Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Bill

introduced H.R. 9565The Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act (CCSA), alongside Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). This sweeping bipartisan legislation aims to provide a lifeline to survivors and their families by addressing the entire survivorship continuum of care for this deadly disease. The CCSA will address gaps in survivorship care and develop desperately needed standards to improve the overall patient-centered quality of care and navigation that cancer survivors and their families experience.


Kilmer Introduces Bipartisan, Bicameral Legislation to Bring Transparency and Accountability to Online Political Ads 
Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06) reintroduced the Honest Ads Act to prevent foreign interference in future elections and improve the transparency of online political advertisements. The bill would ensure online political advertisements are better monitored by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and would enable the FEC to enact rules for online advertisement like those in place for television, radio, and satellite ads, with the goal of making clear to the American public who is funding these online ads and to inhibit foreign actors from purchasing them.


Biden Signs Connolly’s First Responder Fair RETIRE Act into Law
President Joe Biden signed Rep. Gerry Connolly’s (VA-11) bipartisan bill, H.R. 521, the First Responder Fair RETIRE Act, into law to ensure federal firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other federal first responders qualify for full retirement benefits if they are injured on the job and return to the federal workforce.

Carbajal, Jacobs, and Moulton Join Bipartisan Congressional Delegation to Ukraine

New Dems Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Seth Moutlon (MA-06), and Sara Jacobs (CA-53) joined a bipartisan congressional delegation to Ukraine last weekend.

As Members of the House Armed Services Committee, they saw firsthand the human costs of Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked and ongoing aggression against Ukraine and emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine by approving additional aid in the upcoming omnibus government funding package.
