Chief of Staff of the Air Force Visits Goodfellow AFB

On Monday, Colonel Matthew Reilman and I hosted General Charles Q. Brown, Jr., the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, in San Angelo for a tour of Goodfellow Air Force Base (GAFB). General Brown is the first Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the highest-ranking official, to have ever visited GAFB.

His historic visit was monumental and affirms the importance of the base to U.S. national security. The United States faces a complex threat environment—with bad actors rising in various theaters. At the heart of defending this Nation stands Goodfellow Air Force Base and the 12,000 professionals who graduate there every year and begin their careers to keep Americans safe.

I am proud of the team of leaders in San Angelo and Goodfellow who have dedicated years to ensuring a successful community-based partnership. Special thanks to Tom Green County Judge Stephen C. Floyd, Tom Green County Judge-Elect Lane Carter, San Angelo Mayor Brenda Gunter, community leader Mike Boyd, and San Angelo Chamber of Commerce CEO Walt Koenig for providing their insight and joining me for a press conference following the tour.

It was an honor to visit with General Brown and make the case for why Goodfellow deserves expanded mission assets and permanent solutions for the base housing shortage.
Title 42 Expiring in 5 Days

Next week, Title 42, the Trump-era immigration policy that allows Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection port of entry officers to quickly turn away illegal migrants at the border, will be ended. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration has no serious plan in place to mitigate the enormous disaster that ending Title 42 will unleash.

Title 42 is one of the last tools immigration officials have in their belts to help stop the surplus of migrants flooding our country. President Biden must have the political will to enforce our immigration laws and secure the border. Click here or below to learn more.
Countering Big Tech

Big Tech censorship and overreach are not new problems. However, the recent release of the "Twitter Files" proves that employees and leadership at Twitter censored stories and accounts that they disagreed with politically.

My Republican colleagues and I will hold Big Tech companies accountable and continue to defend the First Amendment rights of Americans. I joined CSPAN's Washington Journal earlier this week to outline our plan. Click here or below to watch.
Honoring Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd

This week, the Concho Valley is celebrating the service of Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd who will be retiring at the end of this year. I was honored to recognize Judge Floyd with a speech on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Judge Floyd has dedicated his life to our community, with more than 30 years of service as Justice of the Peace, County Commissioner, and County Judge. Whether he was leading the county, handing down justice, or mowing the courthouse lawn: he led with wisdom and kindness.

Thank you, Judge Floyd, for your decades of guidance and wisdom. Congratulations on a job well done.

Report on the Origins of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic ended lives, closed businesses, destroyed livelihoods, devastated our economy, and robbed families of years that could have been spent together. In Texas 11, we know firsthand the toll this pandemic has taken on our country. We deserve to know exactly how the pandemic began without being labeled conspiracy theorists.

My House Republican colleagues and I will expose those who worked to cover up the lab leak theory and censor voices seeking truth. With a new Republican majority, we will not rest until those responsible are held accountable.

Click here to read the report released this week by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee. It is a great first step toward providing the transparency and accountability we have promised.
Trinity School Senior Wins the 2022 Congressional App Challenge

I am proud to congratulate Raj Sukumar, a Senior at Trinity School of Midland, as the winner of the 2022 Congressional App Challenge for Texas-11!

Raj’s College Calculator is an innovative tool that will help students select which college is the best fit for their goals and interests. I applaud Raj for taking advantage of the opportunity to expand his knowledge in STEM and coding while creating an application that is useful for the real world. As soon as Raj's App is live, I will share it so that all students in the 11th District can use his app to help simplify the often-daunting college application and selection process.
Supporting Farmers in Texas

Texas’ agriculture producers, and the programs that allow them to continue to operate, are critical to National Security. Our farmers and ranchers have suffered through several tough years.

I was proud to lead a letter with two of my fellow West Texas Congressmen, Rep. Ronny Jackson and Rep. Jodey Arrington, to request immediate relief for our communities that support and depend on agriculture.

Thank You to our Fall Intern

This week we sent off Clay Coronado, a junior from Texas Tech University studying political science. Clay spent his fall semester in our D.C. office, where he was a highly valued member of our team. He met every day, constituent, and challenge with a smile.

While he will be missed by our team, we know he will go on to do wonderful things.

If you or someone you know would be a great addition to our team and would like to serve as a Spring intern, you can learn more and apply here.
