I have worked at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) since October of 2018 when I started as the Healthcare Business Analyst. However, I began my career in the private sector working in Admissions and Administrator positions for other skilled nursing providers. While I knew that I enjoyed working in long-term care, I felt unfulfilled working in the private sector and desired an employer whose mission and vision aligned with my personal beliefs to provide the highest quality care.
MDVA was hiring and I was fortunate to be able to join the team and begin my career in state service. In my time with the agency, I have also served as the Assistant Administrator of the Minneapolis Veterans Home and have recently started in the Healthcare Operations Sr. Project Manager role. Working for MDVA has given me opportunities I would not been given elsewhere. Through this, I have been able to strengthen my knowledge, skills and abilities that have allowed me to continue to advance in my career.
As a mom with a young family, I am immensely grateful that I am employed by MDVA. The support I receive from my supervisor and coworkers as well as the work-life balance I am able to maintain is second-to-none. The benefits offered and available for working parents in state service are top notch, too!
It has been an honor and a privilege to work for MDVA in the healthcare division for the past four years. I would encourage anyone considering a career change to look no further than opportunities with our great agency!
