Hello Friends,

I hope you are staying safe and warm this weekend in the snow! It was a busy week fighting for New Hampshire in Washington. On Wednesday, I voted to expand access to de-escalation training tactics to allow local police officers to focus on keeping our communities safe and provide those experiencing mental health crises with the support they need while also protecting themselves.

By equipping first responders with the proper training, we can help save lives and keep our communities safe.

Law enforcement officers in New Hampshire and across the country are often on the front lines of mental health and substance use crises. We must ensure they have the tools and training needed to do their jobs safely. 

I was proud to cosponsor this legislation, and I urge the president to sign it into law.

I was proud to help advocate to get this legislation over the finish line.

Everyone should be able to marry who they love and love how they live. This week, President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law, formally enshrining marriage equality into federal law.

With the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act, marriage equality is now the law of the land for couples in New Hampshire and across the country. Love wins!

We must continue working to ensure a future free from gun violence.

This week ten years ago, twenty 6-and 7-year-old children and six adults were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in a horrific act of gun violence. On this solemn anniversary, our thoughts are with their families, the survivors, and the entire Newtown, Connecticut community. 

We must recommit ourselves to preventing future senseless acts of gun violence to keep communities across our country safe.

I will always advocate for our service members, their families, and those who care for them.

The brave men and women who served our country in uniform deserve the best possible care – and the health care workers who serve them deserve respect. This week, I voted to ensure the doctors, nurses, and other providers who care for our nation’s veterans receive the same protections at work as other federal employees. 

These health care professionals work day in and day out to serve those who served us – and we must ensure they get the protections at work that they deserve.

Thank you to all our New Hampshire teachers who dedicate their careers to educating the next generation of leaders!

Congratulations to New Hampshire’s Teacher of the Year recipient, Christian J. Cheetham, a teacher at Alvirne High School in Hudson!

A Lt Col in the United States Air Force, Christian was chosen for his exceptional teaching skills and profound dedication to his students. A well-deserved honor!

Under her leadership, the 117th Congress passed historic legislation for the American people.

It was an honor to witness the unveiling of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s official portrait this week!
