Dear A.,

This story won’t make headlines, but it's important that you see it.

Yesterday at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, the IDF

simulated a scenario that’s almost impossible to imagine.

In the drill, Israel is under attack with thousands of Hezbollah and Hamas rockets raining down on its cities.

While injured civilians are rushed into emergency rooms, a rocket crashes into the hospital, injuring more people and taking out the building’s electricity. Medical teams must keep the hospital running, treat the rush of wounded victims, and move patients quickly to safety – all while the rocket barrages continue.

This nightmare is a very plausible scenario according to the IDF, which spent six months planning the exercise.

Stories like these underscore the urgency – and profound impact – of our work.

Last night, just hours after the IDF completed its drill, Congress passed

major legislation authorizing funding for life-saving defense programs – including $500 million for missile defense cooperation to help Israel confront the exact threat it simulated yesterday.

AIPAC spent the last year educating members of Congress, meeting regularly with their staff, and urging them to include these programs in yesterday’s defense package.

This is a huge achievement that will directly impact the safety of countless Israelis. And you helped make it possible.

Thank you for your support of AIPAC. Our work together has never been more important.

The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
