Team,
For the last few years, Republicans have continually attacked our public schools. One of the worst examples of this is playing a game of chicken with the aggregate expenditure limit, preventing our schools from investing in our students and addressing teacher shortages.
Republicans in the legislature were on the brink of letting our schools “default” which would have required closures and chaos. But Democrats made a deal with the current Governor Doug Ducey on a state budget that would expand the limit if Ducey called a special session to address the limit later this year.
Now, Republicans aren’t fulfilling their end of the deal. We think it’s reckless to continue to force Arizona’s public schools into a debt limit game, rather than fully fund them. But we want to know your opinion.
